Towards liminality competence: a migrant's talent identity narratives for re-imagining global talent management

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to answer two research questions: How does a self-initiated migrant (SiM)'s talent identity work operate in relation their culture, the societies which they live, interpersonal relationships and tacit knowledge development? how can global management be re-imagined light this? Design/methodology/approach This co-constructed autoethnography produced from reflexive, dyadic interviews text “conversations” with an SiM doing “global work” uses narrative analysis investigate liminal competence developed across life cycle. Findings study shows rooted lived, meaningful experiences individual talent, childhood adult pandemic. authors add about COVID-19 SiMs, uncover poignant examples role ethnic discrimination identify lessons for managerial practice engendering liminality by combining management. Practical implications Lessons are drawn strategies that appreciate support inclusion underappreciated talent. Originality/value Examining connection between competence, show individual's might wasted through different forms highlight during pandemic points way positive changes initiatives. suggests ways addressed strategies.
